What data we use
Our research is based on publicly available data from Instagram and TikTok accounts: follower counts, post formats, posting frequency and public engagement (likes, comments, views). We do not access private accounts or non-public information.
How we collect it
Data is collected through automated analysis of public profiles, the same information any visitor can see. Samples, date ranges and account-selection criteria are stated in each research article.
How we report it
- We report medians alongside averages where distributions are skewed.
- Sample sizes are always disclosed.
- We distinguish correlation from causation and say so when data is only suggestive.
